How EduCare handles refund requests for paid subscriptions and other paid digital services.
Last updated: draft version
Draft — not legal advice. This is placeholder wording for review. Final copy must be checked by a qualified lawyer before launch, especially for children's privacy requirements under South Africa's POPIA.
EduCare is a digital education platform operated by SM Digital Ventures (Pty) Ltd in South Africa.
This Refund Policy applies to paid EduCare subscriptions and other paid digital services purchased directly from EduCare.
Where a purchase is processed through a third-party payment provider, that provider's refund process and buyer terms apply to the transaction.
EduCare provides free educational features as well as optional paid features or subscription services.
No monetary refund applies to features, educational content or services provided free of charge, because no payment was made for them.
Subscription fees are charged according to the plan selected by the customer. Customers should review the applicable price, billing period and relevant subscription information before confirming a purchase.
Customers may submit a refund request within 14 calendar days of the transaction date.
Submitting a request does not mean it will automatically be approved. Refund requests are handled in accordance with this policy, the applicable payment provider's terms, and applicable law.
Refund requests for EduCare Plus are handled by EduCare directly. Please email support@educareapp.co.za and include your payment reference where possible.
Cancellation and refund are not the same thing. An EduCare Plus subscription may be cancelled to prevent future renewals, and cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
A cancellation itself is not the same as a refund request. A customer may still submit a refund request within the 14 calendar day window if they believe one is appropriate.
For questions or help with a refund request, email EduCare at:
Please do not send unnecessary sensitive information such as full debit or credit card numbers, CVV codes, passwords, OTPs, authentication codes, banking passwords or full identity-document numbers.
Where a refund is approved, it will ordinarily be returned through the original payment method or payment provider used for the transaction, where technically, operationally and legally possible.
After an approved refund has been initiated, the time required for funds to appear may depend on the customer's bank, card issuer, payment provider or other relevant financial institution.
Nothing in this Refund Policy is intended to exclude, restrict or waive any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable South African law. This Refund Policy must be interpreted together with applicable South African consumer and electronic-transactions law.
EduCare may update this Refund Policy when reasonably necessary, including where services change, payment arrangements change, regulatory requirements change or business processes are updated.
